I am a content manager. That means that everyday, I read articles, blogs, webpages, and "fix" them to make them acceptable on the websites of our clients. I also spend quite a bit of time looking for writers. Not just people who think they can write, but people who can actually write in sentences that make sense. And yes, I really like it when they use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
I know it's asking a lot, or at least it seems that way, considering the type of content that is sent my way. I pay My writers well - not top dollar - but a comparable price with little hassle. I have searched for good writers in all of the typical places: oDesk, LinkedIn, social media, and even TextBroker. However, finding people who can write well-formulated sentences that read well is proving to be the challenge of the century.
We currently have two great content writers, for which I am abundantly thankful. However, if business continues to grow, which we joyfully anticipate, we may be in over our heads.
This blog will do a few things:
1) Give me a chance to do some venting.
2) Make suggestions to "would be" writers.
3) Let excellent writers know that I am looking for them.
I hope you'll play along with me, putting up with my sarcasm and yet learning from what I have to say. I've been on both sides of this - an eager writer with lots of great aspirations and an editor who must make sense of what is presented to me.
Stay tuned... next up:
